DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the test platform team. The engineer will be responsible for both maintaining existing systems and developing new test tools and infrastructure that support the development process. This includes working with CI/CD pipelines, managing containerized environments, and collaborating with other teams to ensure the stability and scalability of test systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop test infrastructure used in the software development process.
  • Integrate and create new pipeline jobs in GitLab CI.
  • Set up and manage test infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Ensure the stability of build and test pipelines.
  • UI tests executed on a shared EKS cluster
  • Performance tests integrated with GitLab CI and running on EKS
  • Contract testing, using EKS to host broker servers
  • Work within an existing shared EKS cluster, using isolated environments (e.g. namespaces) for job execution.
  • Use Terraform for defining infrastructure configuration.
  • Likely use of Helm for deployments (subject to confirmation).

Requirements

Required Technical Skills

AWS (mandatory)

  • Candidates must have hands-on experience with AWS, especially EKS
  • Candidates without AWS exposure will not be considered.
  • Containerization: Strong understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • CI/CD Tools: Experience with TeamCity and GitLab CI.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Use of Terraform (Helm is likely but not confirmed).
  • Experience with tools like Solenoid Grid is a plus but not mandatory
  • Experience with ArgoCD and Karpenter was mentioned but not confirmed.

Soft Skills and Expectations

  • Ability to self-manage and deliver assigned work without micromanagement.
  • Strong communication skills to share knowledge and collaborate.
  • Willingness to engage in technical discussions and offer alternative solutions when appropriate.
  • A self-starter mentality: proactive in finding solutions and reaching out across teams.

  • Location: Remote (must fully overlap with EST working hours)
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Allocation: 100% full-time
  • Team: Automation and Test Infrastructure (Audi Team)
  • Team size: 2 engineers + 1 tech lead

Time Zone and Availability Requirements

  • Must fully overlap with the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone.
  • Candidates in Pacific or European time zones must still be available during EST
    working hours.
  • Candidates with partial availability (e.g. 50%) or short-term allocation are not eligible
    due to project urgency and continuity needs.
