DevOps Senior Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Internal Developer Portal (IDP) using Backstage
  • Gather technical requirements from ML, Data Infrastructure, and Engineering teams
  • Customize and troubleshoot Backstage templates and plugins
  • Integrate paved developer pathways into Backstage with a focus on DX
  • Collaborate with Platform and Security teams to ensure compliance with HIPAA and internal policies
  • Maintain service level objectives (SLOs) and indicators (SLIs) for the platform
  • Participate in design reviews and incident response rotations
  • Write and maintain documentation for IDP components

Requirements

  • 5+ years of JavaScript programming experience.
  • 5+ years of AWS experience
  • Experience building and maintaining a Backstage Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
  • Experience with React, EKS, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience participating in on-call rotations and incident response.Edit Requirements

  • Experience with service discovery, scaffolder templates, and TechDocs in Backstage
  • Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • GitHub Actions or other CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, etc.)Edit Technologies will be a Plus

Additional Comments

We are also open to candidates who have not held the exact title of “Backstage Engineer” but have relevant experience. This includes:


– DevOps Engineers with a strong JavaScript/TypeScript stack
– JavaScript/React Developers who have worked closely with infrastructure or internal tools
– Platform Engineers with experience building Internal Developer Portals or CI/CD tooling


We’re looking for someone who understands developer workflows, cares about developer experience, and has hands-on experience with Backstage or similar
platforms.
